Julie-ann Lucas School of Dance offers a wide range of classes across all areas of dance. Our teachers are all experienced dancers with various qualifications and personal achievements.
Julie-ann Lucas (Bradley) is the Principal of the school and full-time teacher. Julie-ann established her studio in 1990. She holds qualifications in C.S.T.D. (Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance) and R.A.D. (Royal Academy of Dance).
Julie-ann is supported by a fantastic group of passionate teachers, many of whom are past students themselves.
Katrina Davison (Dance/Acro)
Katrina is a past student and has been teaching at the studio since returning from the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Katrina is qualified in C.S.T.D. Theatrical and Tap and has been instrumental in our students achieving outstanding results in their examinations.
Ellen Cunningham (Musical Theatre)
Ellen is a past student and began teaching at JAL dance in 2009. She completed her Associate Diploma in Musical Theatre (Performing) in 2013 and has directed and performed in many amateur theater productions over the past 10 years. Ellen is currently studying to become a high school teacher majoring in Drama, Mathematics and Physics.
Anna Johnston (Hip Hop)
Anna has been teaching hip hop at our studio on and off for the past 4 years now. Anna has been a Broncos cheer-leader and performed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. In 2015 she ran away with the circus, literally; Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Baily . The children love Anna’s classes as they are always challenging and hard hitting.
Jess Booth (Dance/Pilates)
Jess is a past student of JAL Dance and is back teaching at our studio after 3 years living and dancing in Melbourne. After studying and working mainly in Contemporary, Jess has now turned her focus to Pilates, completing a Matwork and Reformer course and is passionate about developing strong and athletic dancers.
Tracey Tiernan (Dance)
Tracey has been involved in the entertainment industry for over 40 years and has been trained in R.A.D., Checcetti, Vagonava and Australian Teachers of Dance methods. Tracey has performed in various areas including with the Australian Dancers Company (now known as Duprada Dance Company), Peter Rodgers Dancers, Vanessa Amorosi and Izzy Dye as well as appearing in film and on television. Tracey commenced teaching in the early 80’s and now mainly teaches ballet for which she is most passionate.
Chelsea Clark (Dance)
Chelsea has been trained in RAD ballet, ISTD tap and modern as well as jazz and contemporary by a number of renowned teachers and coaches including Bernadette Langshaw-Clark, Karen Johnson-Mortimer, Lyn Richardson, Pamela Eddleston, Tereza Theodoulou, Josephine Jason, Alan Cross, Maxine Kohler and John Mullins. For ten years she was co-director of a dance school in Sydney but since moving to Brisbane in late 2015 has taught ballet, tap jazz and contemporary at JAL Dance.
Selin Doygun (Musical Theater)
Selin is a past student of JAL Dance with a passion for musical theatre. She completed her Associate Diploma in Musical Theater (Performing) in 2013, a Diploma in Musical theater at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and is involved in amateur theatre around Brisbane.
